Magical safaris, growling lions, smiling crocodiles and idyllic scenery, coupled with luxury accommodation to ensure maximum holiday pampering!
During this ten day African adventure, you’ll experience Kenya in all its glory, hopping from the cities of Nairobi to the rolling plains of the Maasai Game Reserve and Lake Nakuru National Park (and hopefully making some furry friends along the way!).
Kenya is a bold, unparalleled and majestic land where beasts roam, birds soar and plants glitter beneath the glare of the African sun. Wedged between Somalia to the north east and Tanzania to the south, Kenya is widely recognised as a hotspot for wildlife viewing and safaris, offering visitors an unforgettable glimpse into how the local animals operate in their natural habitat.
Once you’ve touched down in Kenya, your first stop will be Nairobi, the undisputed safari capital of Africa. What does this mean for you? Animals, birds and snapping jaws aplenty. On the second day of your trip you’ll head to Lake Nakuru National Park which hosts the largest population of rhinos, as well as huge colonies of flamingos which often turn the shores a bright shade of pink. An overnight stay in this glorious park will give you plenty of time to marvel at the Makalia waterfalls and spot Thomson gazelles, impalas, leopards and buffaloes lurking in the thicket.
Then, more wonderful creatures await you in the Maasai Mara Game Reserve (the northern extension of the Serengeti) whose rolling plains form a playground for the “Big Five”; lions, leopards, elephants, rhinos and buffaloes. These breath-taking beasts will stalk their prey or frolic playfully before your eyes, doing so to a soundtrack of chirps from the some 470 different species of birds which are present in the Maasai Mara. Keep your eyes peeled for leopards and cheetahs during your safari drives too and prepare for the guide to talk your ear off about all these wonderful species.
After the high octane experience of an adrenaline fuelled safari, why not treat yourself to some relaxation time. Only a short flight away, the white sand archipelago of Zanzibar is considered the Indian Ocean's best kept secret and is the perfect place to do this where you’ll spend the next a full five days.
Floating in the Indian Ocean off the coast of Tanzania, the island is like a dazzling white mirage of translucent lagoons enticing you to its unspoilt bounties and rich history.
It used to be said “when the flute is played in Zanzibar the whole of Africa dances”. Immerse yourself in culture and dance with the locals in Stone Town. Located in the Old Quarter of Zanzibar, this is a fascinating UNESCO site to explore.
On the east coast, pure white canopies of sand sweep down to the turquoise waters punctuated by emerald green coconut groves overlooking pristine bays filled with impossibly turquoise water. The region is bejewelled with coral reef which creates a shallow lagoon flanked by impeccable beaches. You might need to splash yourself with the warm sparkling water to realise that this isn’t a dream!
