Then onto Miraflores, where you could spend days discovering the markets, art galleries and theatres along with the Pre-Incan ruins. Enjoy lunch at Larcomar or enjoy an afternoon at leisure.

Fly to Cuzco this morning, the ancient capital of the Inca Empire, for your hotel stay. It is recommended that you spend this day at leisure in your hotel to recuperate from your journey.

Spend the day walking through the vibrant marketplace, thriving with modern "mestizo" culture or head out to see fortresses and relics of the Incan empire.

Through the Andean High Plains to Lake Titicaca

07:50-17:00 Spend the day travelling in relaxed comforts aboard a coach from Cuzco through dramatic mountains, across the Andean plains and past remote villages.

At Andahuaylillas, explore the San Pedro Apostol, built on top of a scared site by the Jesuits in the 16th century and at Huaro Colonial Chapel, stunning Baroque art and the oldest piano in Latin America. Visit the Inca site of Raqchi; its many sites each hold a different purpose, with the Temple of Wiracocha being the most prominent. The 92 meters long temple was thought to be built to appease the Superior God. Continue to Sicuani, and walk through the small market town, surrounded by snow-capped mountains before savouring incredible views over an exclusive restaurant buffet lunch.

The coach journey continues towards Puno and Lake Titicaca, with the Vilcanota Valley beginning to close in as the road climbs La Raya Pass, before dropping down into the deserted “pampa” that covers much of inland southern Peru. This afternoon uncover the origins of Andean civilisation in the highlands at Pukara. Let your creative juices take over as you see the many sculptures and multi-coloured pottery.

Continue to Puno, where you’ll see the sights of the pre-Colombian era and local women in colourful dresses and bowler hats. Stop for a traditional regional lunch.

Discover life on South America’s largest lake by boating to one of its floating islands; they are home to the Uros people, who have for centuries maintained a distinctive lifestyle in order to isolate themselves from the Colla and Inca tribes. The inhabitants live on these artificial islands made of Totora reeds.

Next, on the fascinating island of Tequile, learn about the Aymara people who live here; they are known for their hand-woven textiles and traditional culture. Don’t forget to pick up a knitted souvenir! Enjoy a traditional lunch, dining on the lake’s fresh trout along with Peruvian food. After, we will explore the sloping hills and archaeological sites. Return to Puno for an evening at leisure.
