Another spectacle is the Lake Titicaca, a splash of translucent neon blue at an impressive 3,855 metres. This birthplace of civilisation is home to the Uros Indians, who live on the floating islands.

Day 1 LIMA
Start your Peruvian odyssey with a bang in the reigning “City of Kings”, founded by Francisco Pizarro in 1535. Upon arrival at Jorge Chávez International Airport, a host will meet and assist you in transferring to the hotel.
This immense capital soars above a coast line of rugged cliffs, filled with colonial and pre-conquistador gems. Scarlet sunsets light up the sky, silhouetting the surfers gracefully taming the waves. Day 2 LIMA
Your first day will begin with a tour, which will give you the fantastic opportunity to go far beyond the city’s surface. After breakfast, you will be transferred to the centre of Lima. This dynamic trip combines the sites of colonial history and art – including the Cathedral of Lima – with a visit to the city’s palace used as official residence of the Peruvian president. You will also discover some of the polished districts, which offer a fascinating contrast. First stop, the “garden” region of San Isidro preserves its past aristocratic charm, seen in Olivar & Iglesia de Santo Domingo which is One of Lima’s most storied religious sites. It is most renowned as the final resting place for three important Peruvian saints: San Juan Macías, Santa Rosa de Lima and San Martín de Porres (the continent’s first black saint). Departures timings for the Lima City Tour are 9:00 am & 14:00 hrs. Then onto Miraflores, where you could spend days discovering the markets, art galleries and theatres. Day 3 LIMA-AREQUIPA
After enjoying breakfast, you will be met and transferred from your hotel to board your flight to the sugar-white city of Arequipa, the volcanic stone gateway to Mount Chachani. Upon arrival, check-in at the hotel. From first sight of this colonial Spanish dynasty, as you emerge from the Baroque-style buildings, along the cobble roads and pass the stone walls, it is obvious this European antiquity is one of Peru’s stunning cities. Day 4 AREQUIPA
After breakfast, enjoy a day at leisure to explore Arequipa. Do not miss the treasures of the White City! At 14:00 hrs in the afternoon, there is the option of joining a wonderful guided tour. You will head to Santa Catalina Convent, the Plaza de Armas, where you will see the Cathedral and the arches that surround the plaza. It is the most important Catholic church in the city and considered as one of Peru’s most famous colonial cathedrals since the Spanish conquest. Finally, you will visit the Church of the Company founded in the 17th century by the Jesuits, its beautifully painted chapel creating a spectacular architectural gem. Enjoy an evening at leisure. Day 5 AREQUIPA-COLCA CANYON-CHIVAY
After breakfast, you will leave Arequipa to enjoy a remarkable four hour guided coach trip of the extraordinary Colca Canyon, stunningly set in “The Valley of Wonders”. The term “Wonders” is apt as Colca Canyon is a riveting natural spectacle. You will spend the day marvelling at the sprawling scenery, lunching at a local restaurant, as well as making furry friends along the way with a llama or two! Dinner is also included. Day 6 CHIVAY-CRUZ DEL CONDOR-PUNO
Enjoy the flight of the condor! After breakfast, head to the highest point of your trip, “Cruz del Condor”, the ideal setting to a Western film with hot mist pouring over dark jagged peaks and wild cactus. You will suddenly see swooping out of the fog the Andean condor, the largest flying bird gliding over the 13,640 drop like a magnificent kite, coolly riding the breeze. Along the way, you will see ancient villages shooting up out of nowhere like oases in the middle of the desert. You will visit the fascinating ‘Mirador de Chinina” and follow the bridge that connects the remote Yanque and Coporaque. Enjoy spectacular views overlooking the whole Colca Valley. Continue to the village of Yanque and stop at Choquetipo, Artahuilque and the town of Maca. After dining for lunch at a restaurant, your day trip ends with a stay in Puno, the port that combines the sights of the pre-Colombian era with the beauty of Lake Titicaca. Evening hotel check-in. Day 7 PUNO –LAKE TITICACA
After breakfast, you will start the day exploring Lake Titicaca. A guide will take you across to the natural wonders of the lake, including the floating island homes of the Uros people. Their distinctive lifestyle began centuries ago in order to isolate themselves from the Colla and Inca tribes. Inhabitants pluck the totora reeds from the shallows of the lake, which are woven through the floating islands and their boats. Continue exploring with a short boat ride to Taquile. This fascinating island offers many unique charms where you will see authentic style of dress and culture. Don’t forget to pick up a knitted souvenir. For lunch you will have the chance to dine on the lake’s fresh trout along with Peruvian food. After, you will explore the hills and archaeological sites. Day 8 PUNO-CUZCO
After breakfast you will bid farewell to Puno to make your way to the ancient Incan capital of Cuzco. First up, is a tour of the sacred temple of Kalasaya, dating back to 15,000 BC, where you will be captivated by such temples discovered by the Incas. Next stop is the village of Raqchi, home to the Temple of Wiracocha, which was built for the “Wiracocha”, God of the Andean people. Continue to La Raya ranch, an impressive 14,150 feet above sea level! Be charmed by the large herds of llama and vicunas, and the array of colourful little markets selling blankets and knitted socks. Then head to Huacarpay Lake, where you will see waterfowl and a variety of birds. Nearing Cuzco, you will continue to the village of Andahuaylillas, home to South America’s version of the Sistine Chapel, “San Pedro de Andahuaylillas”. Decorated with a splendid ceiling and an intricate display of murals, the church has earned its acclaim. After savouring traditional cuisine you will board a bus that will take you straight to Cuzco. Day 9 CUZCO
Begin your trail with a hearty breakfast and morning at leisure. In the afternoon you’ll explore the labyrinth of historical streets and dazzling monuments of central Cuzco, including the plaza, cathedral, Temple of the Sun and Korikancha. You’ll also discover the outside Incan treasures of Kenko, Tambomachay, Puka Pukara and the wonderful Fortress of Sachsayhuaman. Your magnificent history lesson completed, you will be transferred back to your hotel to pamper for an evening of wining and dining at Cuzco’s many restaurants. Overnight in Cuzco
Day 10 CUZCO-MACHU PICCHU
After an early start to this packed day of awe and wonder, you will be transferred to the train station from where you will begin your mesmerising journey to Machu Picchu, also known as the “Lost City of the Incas”. Arriving at Aguas Calientes train station, you will board a bus which will take you to the heart of this masterpiece of Inca civilization. You’ll enjoy a guided tour of Machu Picchu with your expert guide. Here you will visit the main square and the circular tower. Also included is the sun dial, the temple of three windows and the cemetery. Feel free to lunch at your own expense in Aguas Calientes before travelling by train back to your hotel. Day 12 CUZCO-PUERTO MALDONADO
Riotously rich in vibrant colour and home to the world’s greatest ecological wonders, Puerto Maldonado’s bountiful beauty is as exotic as anything you could hope to find in the rainforest. Make sure you’ve packed a hat, sunscreen, bathing suit and sturdy boots for jungle safety! Your adventure of a lifetime begins with a swift transfer to the airport, where you will depart to Puerto Maldonado. You will be welcomed by our team at Puerto Maldonado. You will start your journey with a city tour in our bus to Port Captaincy, the most popular hub for excursions. From here you will board a boat to cross the Madre de Dios River. Begin the boat ride to your lodge. On board, you will enter a natural, timeless world of vines wrapped around ancient trees and flora that make the jungle pop with vibrant colour. Parrots call out from the dense tree canopy, squirrel monkeys swing down to the river, and caiman rest on the banks as heron, kingfisher and tangager fly across the bright sky. Enjoy reciting the many names of the creatures that pass by including the rufescent tiger heron and three-toed sloth! Arrival at the Ecoamazonia Lodge. Here you will toast the journey with welcome drinks. Afterwards you will be handed over the keys to your bungalow before lunching on traditional cuisine – the perfect setting to one of life’s greatest adventures. In the afternoon, join your expert guide for your first adventure to Monkey Island, only five minutes from the lodge. Trek along the footpaths through the extraordinary landscape and flora where you will be greeted by a variety of playful monkeys. Our specialist guide will help you to spot coati, sloth and other fascinating inhabitants. The Amazon is home to more than 400 new plant and animal species that are protected by this bountiful and leafy oxygen tank. The rainforest produces 20 per cent of the planet’s oxygen and is almost as large as Australia. Look out for some of the 4,000 types of butterfly fluttering by. As we head back to the lodge, you will behold one of the most dazzling sunsets sinking into the vast canopy. Return to your bungalow and kick back the day with a relaxing dinner. Day 13 MADRE DE DIOS RIVER
Rise early to the lively trill of bird song. After breakfast, you will set off on a hike through the heart of the forest, following trodden trails with bridges joining gaping gorges. Stop to observe the tanagers and orioles as well as the reptiles accompanied by the chitter chatter of the canopy. Along the way you will have the opportunity to see the Cave of the Alligators. Continuing our walk, we will arrive at the majestic Apu Victor Lake – certainly this is nature at its most captivating. This eco-rich lake is set in sublime surroundings, where dramatic, remote, wide swamps frame a mirror of crystalline waters. You will then weave along an infinitely glorious stretch of towering trees and flora to a secluded watchpoint overlooking dark waters. Here nature is dramatic: exotic short-tailed parrots, five types of parakeets, laughing falcons, herons, and other colourful birds. But it is the larger creatures that will undoubtedly steal the limelight, including alligators and turtles. If in luck, you might catch a glimpse of the giant otter! After several hours of jungle fun, you will return to the lodge and enjoy a delicious afternoon lunch on the Gamitana River. You will also have the opportunity to fish in the river. Day 14 PUERTO MALDONADO-LIMA-UK
