Overview

Linking northeast Africa with the Middle East, Egypt offers visitors a treasure trove of antiquities and millennia-old monuments. Home to an eclectic mixture of World Heritage Sites and ancient artefacts, the country is full to the brim with historical clout – from the Great Pyramids of Giza to the burial chambers and tombs of the Valley of the Kings.

You’ll kick off your nine-night getaway with a full-day tour of the Greco-Roman landmarks and architectural wonders of the Mediterranean port city of Alexandria. From the Kom el-Shuqafa Catacombs to the ultramodern Bibliotheca Alexandrina, you’ll visit a plethora of sites (some of which date all the way back to the first and second centuries) nestled in amongst golden beaches and old-world cafes.

And after spending a full day in Alexandria, flitting between World Heritage Sites and ancient wonders, prepare for another spellbinding day in Cairo’s surrounding areas. Head to Giza to marvel at the Great Pyramid, Great Sphinx, Egyptian Museum and Khan El Khalili bazaar. The Ancient Pyramid is made up of nearly 2.5 million blocks and the symbolic Sphinx statue is thousands of years old.

You’ll then swap city for shore and board your floating palace for a three-night cruise along the River Nile on full-board basis – a great opportunity for you to see more of Egypt.

Stop off at Aswan, the country’s commercial gateway, and visit the Philae Temple complex and the Temple of Isis, dating all the way back to the 4th century B.C.

Then, explore the agricultural haven of Kom Ombo, home to a famous temple of the same name. Make your way to Edfu for more temple sightseeing and then on to Luxor, formerly the site of the pharaohs’ capital of Thebes thousands of years ago.

And after a whirlwind three nights, you’ll dock on the West Bank, do a little bit more temple-hopping and then head to Hurghada, a 40km beachy slither of paradise along the Red Sea coast.

A beach resort known for its water sports, Hurghada offers plenty of ocean-based activities. There is no set itinerary, so you’re free to do as you please for the following three nights, whether that involves flopping down on a sunbed for hours or exploring some of Hurghada’s hotspots and hangouts.

The town is split into three main parts (El Dahar, El Sakala and Touristic Road) and is only a stone’s throw from neighbouring islands – making day trips to these sun-dappled slices of land easy as pie. You could head to Giftun and Mahmya (both are great for snorkelling) or stay on land and explore the desert by quad bike.

To cap off an extraordinary tour, we’ve organised a traditional Bedouin barbecue dinner in the desert for your last night.
