Ramona's oldest structure, the Verlaque House, and other historic buildings are maintained by the Ramona Pioneer Historical Society as a way to preserve the history of the early West. Beyond the Verlaque house, explore the shops, antique exhibits, and even browse through the special artifacts.
Pamo Valley Winery is a small family-operated producer of wine located in Ramona. They are popular for their menu, which is frequently updated. For accolades, they were voted Ramona's "Best Winery 2012" by Ramona Sentinel, and voted Ramona's "Business of the Year 2012" by the Ramona Chamber of Commerce.
The Salernos had been making wine for 23 years before opening their winery in 1998. Since then, they have produced wines that have earned international acclaim. Established favorites include the Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Petite Sirah, but Salerno Winery also offers crafted wines such as their signature, double gold medal, and gold sweepstakes winner: Elegante.
A locally-owned and operated winery, Eagles Nest regularly offers wine tastings and tours of their vineyard and operations. Their wines span estate, Ramona valley, and San Diego County wines. However, the uniqueness of Eagles Nest wines is evident through the long, cool growing seasons in which their grapes grow.
The preserve is a county-run park offering public access to a four-mile loop that allows hikers, bikers, and horseback riders. A collection of rare animals also make their homes in the area: Stephens' kangaroo rat, fairy shrimp, purple stipa, blue-eyed grass, and wooley blue curls are just a few. Bird watchers will enjoy the grand hawks that live in the grasslands as well.
