Welcome to Astrid Lindgrens Värld, a world full of fairytale characters created by author Astrid Lindgren. In this theatre- and theme park you will meet all the characters from Astrid Lindgren's books in their true settings. Everyone can meet the characters, they perform scenes from the books and improvise situations involving the children in the park. The amusement park is located in the small city in Småland, Vimmerby, where Astrid Lindgren where born. Astrid Lindgren’s World is open from 12 May to 29 August and on weekends in September, as well as certain weeks in October (week 422) and November (weeks 43 and 44).

You find this mansion in the beautiful forest in Bottnaryd on the highlands of Småland, surrounded by a beautiful atmosphere, ponds and streams. Gunillabergs mansion outside of Bottnaryd, Jonkoping, had its heyday during the 1600s. Queen Kristina used it as a hunting lodge, but honored it in 1642 for military Johan Printz. Johan Printz was governor of the Swedish colony New Sweden, near Delaware. When he got home, he was, among other things, the county chief in Jönköping County and then made Gunillaberg to his residence. The farm is named after John Printzs mother Gunilla. The Danish artist Tage Andersen took over the mansion in 2008 and has his studio, gallery and boutique. A Beautiful and interesting literatures is also placed there.

Welcome to the world’s only match museum! The Match Musem in Jönköping is located in the beautiful building that once was the first match factory in Jönköping. In the museum, living match history is told. Encounter the people and machines that built up the match industy and developed it into a global operation. You will find an exciting film and thousands of matchboxes and labels. The shop has a wide range of matchboxes, labels, books and much more.
Enjoy Jönköping’s two kilometer long beach in the middle of the city. You can take a walk on the beach and there are beautiful places around Vättern where it's nice to enjoy a picnic. In the summer the beach is full of people taking a swim and enjoying the sun and a nice day with friends. If you want to enjoy a musical, concert, theatre or any performing art, Spira is the place to visit. It is located by the lake Munksjön. Every year over 800 concerts and performances are given. You find many different kinds of genre: jazz, classic concert and a lot more. In Spira you can also find a well-respected restaurant, open daily. The restaurant welcomes you to come by and enjoy a cup of coffee in the sun, or eat something good before going to a show or concert. On weekends a delicious brunch is served.
Gränna and Visingsö are unmissable destinations offering enchanting views, manor houses, cobbled roads, bicycle rides, idyllic wooden cabins, castle ruins, paths and oak forests. Gränna was founded by Count Per Brahe the Younger in 1652. At Grenna museum, you can learn about S.A. Andrée’s adventurous balloon voyage over the North Pole. The three-man expedition party departed from Svalbard on 11 July 1897. The sweetest thing in Gränna is definitely its mint rock. The authentic mint rock is red and white but today it comes in infinite flavours. The island of Visingsö is just a 30-minute boat ride away. Ideal for a daytrip. It includers attraqctions like the ruined Näs Castle, Sweden’s first royal residence. You can also hike or take a special horse-drawn carriage (known as a remmalag) and enjoy a bicycle ride around the island.
When you visit Aqua Dinner & Drinks you will be served the trendiest drinks and the best wines. The restaurant offer Scandinavian food with a touch of France and Italy. This is a colony with its own strong personality in the middle of a burgeoning downtown. The restaurant is located in one of the most historic buildings in Jönköping. The latest addition into the restaurants in Jönköping is Sjön. The restaurant is located at the beach Vätterstranden by the water. The ingredients and the groceries are from the local farms around the lake Vättern. On the menu you find many different and exciting combinations, you can also try a tasting menu with a lot of different flavors. The restaurant is run by Tommy Myllymäki who came in second place in the prestigious cooking competition Bocuse d'Or 2011.
At Sofiehof, a modern brasserie, you are served fantastic food with a touch of France. The food dishes is made of local groceries and of course with a lot of care. The environment is very cozy and trendy with a big heart! On the menu you can find anything from rustic dishes to lighter more modern dishes. Sofiehof s known for it's thursday specialty : prawn feast!

This fish- and seafood restaurant is located on the old match factory area, Tändsticksområdet. The seasonal groceries have a high standard. You can enjoy self-produced crayfish or a special whiskey that has been stored for a long time only fifteen meters from the Atlantic Ocean. Pescadores serve lunch and à la carte.
By the beautiful lake Munksjön you can drink your coffee and dip your toes in the blue calming water at the same time. Bryggan is a bakery and coffee house that focuses on making bread and pastry with great care, and without any chemical raising agents. Their specialty is tasty, healthy sourdough bread. Enjoy your breakfast, lunch or afternoon tea at the peaceful Bryggan.
Chokladverkstan is a small, cozy café and chocolate factory in the rural environment of the Tokarp area in Jönköping. On the farm, in a wonderfully furnished barn you can find all kinds of sweets, cakes, pastry and desserts - all handmade. While drinking coffee you are able to look into the kitchen and observe the making of chocolate. The barn also has a small shop where visitors can buy silver jewelry and things for your home, inspired by the beautiful countryside. In the adjacent stable chocolate tasting activities are held, often in conjunction with corporate conferences. The coffee shop is only open on Fridays at 10 am to 6 pm.
Bernards pastry shop opened its doors in Jönköping as early as in 1919, and has since then served freshly made salads, pies, delicious pastry dishes and their famous smorgas-cakes, or smörgåstårtor. Discover Bernard’s traditional pastry and their very own modern creations. You can find Bernards coffeeshop in the centre of the city, but also in the eastern part of the town and in the A6 shopping mall.

You will find Kaffebönan, or the Coffee Bean, in a charming old wooden house from the 18th century, located in the very heart of the Östra Centrum area. The atmosphere here is very homely and cozy, and the staff have great knowledge about their trade. If the weather allows, you are welcome to enjoy your coffee or food outside in the small courtyard, paved with cobblestone. Kaffebönan also serves lunch dishes such as salads, taco plates, soups and pies.
Toppstugan is a cottage in Taberg where you can drink coffee at a height of 343 meters above sea level. Just imagine the view! When the cottage opens in April, you are welcome to visit and eat a light lunch, a delicious shrimp sandwich or taste the different pastries from their own bakery.

Take a stroll down town if you are in the mood for shopping. The city of Jönköping has a lot to offer – a total of 206 small shops and large department stores are filled with clothes, food and bargains for you to discover and enjoy. The main street for shopping is Östra Storgatan, located in the Östra Centrum area, where the main stores are located. But don’t be afraid to explore Klostergatan, in the Västra Centrum area, where you will find craft shops, second hand shops and locally produced vegetables and delicacies. Most stores are open til 6 pm during weekdays, and 4 pm on saturdays. Sundays, the stores in the city are closed.
Asecs is Jönköping’s old military regement, which has been transformed into a grand shopping centre. Here you can browse through 80 stores and restaurants of various kinds. Small shops and large department stores under the same roof create an exciting, yet cosy atmosphere. Busses go to the Asecs area frequently, and the opening hours are very generous. The mall is open 10 am to 8 pm on weekdays, 10 am to 6 pm on Saturdays, and 11 am to 5 pm on Sundays.
Jönköping’s restored old match factory area, Tändsticksområdet, is like a miniature town in itself. Its red brick buildings from the height of Jönköping’s matchstick industry now contain galleries, unique shops and restaurants, cosy cafés, antiques and more. A large flea market is also held here every Saturday.
Rekoshoppen is an ecological and sustainable shop where you will find everything from clothes shampoos, skin care products to brushes and toys. Here you can shop with a good conscience since the items are organic; almost nothing is made of plastic. The owners like material like wood, linen, organic cotton and bamboo.

Jönköping Airport is located 9 kilometers from Jönköping City Centre and close to the R40 road (Gothenburg — Västervik). The easiest way to go to or from the airport is by taxi. Please check the price with the driver before making the journey. Most company apply fixed prices to Jönköping Centre. There is a regular bus service (Line 27) to and from Jönköping city center. The journey takes about 20 minutes. Fee according Länstrafiken urban traffic. The summers in Jönköping are comfortable but party cloudy. The hottest month is July but otherwise from April to September the weather is pleasant and warm. Winters are long and freezing and during November to March, there are good chances for snow in Jönköping. In January the temperature drops down to about -6℃ at night!
Länstrafiken in Jönköping is sure that everyone will be able to travel as smoothly and quickly as possible. Jönköping Länstrafik is responsible for rail and bus services. You can pay your trip in cash on board the bus, Krösatågen and Västtågen (not Östgötapendeln). The receipt is your ticket and you must keep it throughout the trip.
